Hirpus
was born in the late 2001 by the will of Marco (Apud
Inferos) and Daniele (Mors
Summa), already knowing each other since years, and having
devenloped in time similar conceptions on extreme metal, music, and
cultural resistance in general.
Hirpus was the name used by a group of warrior priests living in the
ancient times on the Soratte mountain, devoted to mystical practices. The
word itself Hirpus comes from oscian, an indo-european italic language
related to latin, and means "wolf", an animal closely related to
Mars in ancient italic religions. Thus Hirpus concept is supposed to be
both warrior and mystical, and connected to our ancient italic blood and
spiritual roots.
In early 2002 Hirpus composed and recorded a first effort, and immediately
came the offer of releasing it from the New York label Pagan Nations
Rising, purposing to release it on CD, together with another effort in
early 2003 under the title of “Ianuaria” that means “things related
to Ianus” the roman God of the beginnings and so being praticularry
proper for a debut release. At the end of 2002 the master was ready, but
meaningwhile, showing what is the word honour for them, this label simply
did'nt contact the band anymore. After a few months another New York label,
Supreme Art Productions, purposed us to release the CD in early 2004. Same
city, similar behaviour: after to have the release delayed with a lot of
excuses, Hirpus were forced to break their deal with them. Finally in
Jenuary (month sacred to god Ianus) 2005 the Gods wanted Hirpus to find a
definitive deal with a serious label, Sadolust, releasing the Ianuaria
CD at the Ides of March.
Meaningwhile, during 2004 was decided to change the working method. While
so far Hirpus has been more a two-men project then a real band, with the
same work done equally by Marco and Daniele, it started to change into a
real band and another member was recruited: Nicola, that is going in the
next releases to take care of vocals.
Currently
the band is preparing new material. It's possible in the future the
recruitment of new members.
Gli Hirpus nascono nel tardo 2001 per volontà di Marco (Apud Inferos) e Daniele (Mors Summa), che già si conoscono da anni, e hanno avuto modo di sviluppare nel tempo concezioni simili a proposito di metal estremo, musica e resistenza culturale in generale.
Il nome Hirpus era usato da un gruppo di sacerdoti
guerrieri che vivevano anticamente sul monte Soratte, dediti a pratiche
mistiche. La parola stessa Hirpus viene dall'Osco, una lingua italica
indo-europea imparentata con il latino, e significa "lupo", un
animale strettamente associato a Marte nelle antiche religioni italiche.
Quindi il messaggio degli Hirpus vuole essere sia guerriero che mistico, e
connesso alle nostre antiche radici romano-italiche, di sangue e di
spirito.
Agli inizi del 2002 gli Hirpus compongono e
registrano un primo contributo, e quasi subito venne l'offerta di farlo
uscire da parte della label di New York Pagan Nations Rising, che propone
di farlo uscire su CD con un'altra registrazione all'inizio del 2003, con il
titolo "Ianuaria" che significa "cose associate a
Giano", il Dio romano di tutti gli inizi, con un titolo quindi
particolarmente appropriato per un debutto. Alla fine del 2002 il master
era pronto, ma nel frattempo, mostrando cosa significa per loro l'onore,
questa label sparisce senza più contattare il gruppo. Dopo qualche mese
un'altra label di New York, Supreme Art Productions, si propone per far
uscire il CD agli inizi del 2004. Stessa città, comportamento simile:
dopo aver avuto ripetutamente l'uscita ritardata con un sacco di scuse,
gli Hirpus sono costretti a rompere il contratto con loro. Finalmente, nel
Gennaio (Mese sacro a Giano) 2005 gli Dei vogliono che gli Hirpus trovino
un contratto definitivo con una label seria, Sadolust,
che fa uscire Ianuaria alle idi di Marzo.
Nel frattempo, durante il 2004 si decide di cambiare
il metodo di lavoro. Mentre fino ad ora gli Hirpus sono stati più un
progetto a due che un gruppo vero e proprio, con lo stesso lavoro
ripartito equamente tra Marco e Daniele, si comincia la trasformazione in
un vero gruppo e viene reclutato un nuovo membro, Nicola, che si occuperà
delle parti vocali nelle prossime uscite.
Attualmente il gruppo sta componendo nuovo
materiale. E' possibile in futuro il reclutamento di nuovi membri.
